Trevor Fortune

Trevor Fortune is a fourth generation Susu participant, born in Trinidad and Tobago and was raised seeing his grandmother, his mother and many family members and neighbours participating in Susu. Over the years he seen members of Susu groups using their payouts for building and renovating their homes, sending their children to school and to cover the cost of big ticket items without the need for bank financing. In Canada, Trevor have noticed the Vietnam refugees crisis after the Vietnam war and later the Tamil war refugees showed how refugees use informal savings and loans to establish businesses in Canada. This is his inspiration for reengineering traditional money pooling for helping to reduce the housing deficit challenges in Nigeria.
