Cursed Ground follows Kai Mizuhara, a first-year student at Ashiyama Academy, a school built on cursed ground where malice gathers beneath the hill. After a dangerous encounter in the courtyard, Kai is drawn into training, strange talents, and the uneasy work of holding back what lives under the bell tower and along the drains.

The manuscript blends supernatural school life with tense, character-driven scenes of combat, training, and investigation. Kai is paired with classmates Mio Sakagami, who uses bamboo blades wrapped in charms; Hana Ebisu, whose Thread Shadow binds creatures to her shadow; and upperclassman Tatsuya Kurogane, who leaves burning footprints. Their teacher, Sensei Oda, guides them while warning that the grounds themselves are part of the threat. As the story moves through the academy’s yard, tower, and old stone paths, the students begin to notice signs that something is wrong with the rope of the bell, the carvings in the walls, and the movement of shadows near the drains.
