## How the estimate works

The calculator divides your target by your daily word count to get the number of **writing days**, then lays those days onto the week you actually have. Thirty writing days at seven days a week is thirty calendar days; the same thirty days at five a week is six weeks, finishing on the fifth day of the sixth week. The finish date is counted from today, with today as the first writing day.

What it estimates is the **first draft** — the words on the page, not the book.
